Happy 4th of July

Happy birthday USA, courtesy of Jimi Hendrix. I love the interview intro with Little Richard ("hair-o-run"), and stay tuned to the end of the clip for a great interview with Hendrix about the aftermath of this performance.

I'm sure you just forgot to mention it, but today happens to be MY birthday. I was expecting a big post all about my life to be waiting for me when I checked in this morning. However, once again, this blog has let me down.

Well, consider Hendrix's performance as salute to the USA and to Walter Evans. Happy B-Day.

We knew it was your birthday, but . . .

Just keep talking, Pocky. When I eventually get back from my six or seven weeks of ongoing summer travel/vacation, you're going to be begging me for some good old fashioned last-place Astros baseball, and you may just find that no tickets are available.

Who am I kidding...this is the Astros...you couldn't give tickets away if you tried. I'm in Chicago right now. Do you know that the same seats that I am not usually able to sell for 10 bucks a piece go for around $150 a piece here...for a mid-week game...against the Giants. It's insane! Houston is such a bad sports city.

Or the Astros are a team that are not worth putting your faith in.

That argument would be more compelling, Dez, if you didn't complain constantly about how bad a sports city Houston is.

The truth is that this is the first year that the Cubs have been really good. But, their fans have always been amazingly loyal and willing to shell out the big bucks for tickets. It's like the Red Sox fans before they won the World Series.

A good sports city is a good sports city regardless of the talent of the respective teams.
