Dez Predicts....

The Texans will be victorious today over the Cowboys. And all of Dallas and San Antonio will weep. It will be a good day.

I think you are right and I hope you are right.Cowboys have been way overrated and Houston is for real this year.It must be difficult living in Cowboyland. It's interesting that San Antonio roots for the Cowboys in football but they root for the Astros in baseball. Why is that?

I don't know. But it is very clear that San Antonio's three major league teams are the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. It probably has to do with being the most storied franchises with the most successful marketing and history. The Oilers left and Texans (until this year) were always "building," so it makes sense that Sa would gravitate towards the established Cowboys. Same with Astros vs. Rangers.

But it is irritating. San Antonio might as well be Dallas as far as how people around here feel about The Cowboys. All of the local sports talk radio focus on The Cowboys as if they were located here, and talk about The Texans as if they were any other away team that the Cowboys must face. Annoying.

Also, Jerry Jones has done a masterful job of keeping a Cowboys presence in San Antonio (and Austin, Waco...the entire I-35 corridor). The Cowboys hold their training camp in San Antonio, for instance. Jerry Jones has made sure that San Antonio does not get its own football team.

By the way, how are people in Tampa as far as Yankees vs. Rays? I know the Yankees hold their training camp there and Steinbrenner lived there and was very involved in Tampa. Are they loyal to their own or are there lots of those damn Yankee fans there too?

Lots of Yankee and Red Sox fans here.
The Rays' stadium holds around 33,000
and when they play the Yankees or Red Sox they have their biggest crowds and half of them are there to root for the visitors. Of course, a lot of Tampa residents are transplants from the northeast.

Well, I was wrong on that one. Disappointing game. Cowboys fans should have been wishing for a defeat, though, because now that means their crappy coach probably gets to keep his job.
